IMPORTANT COVID NOTICE
If your athlete has tested positive for COVID within two months of the start of track, they will need to complete MSHSAA's return to play protocol to participate in track. If you have questions regarding this process, please contact Lisa Neeser ([email protected] - Middle School Athletic Trainer) or Bryan Phillips ([email protected] - Athletic Director) for further information.
COVID Safety
Water Dispensing Protocol/Procedures
- All participants are required to bring and fill their own water containers/bottles before arriving to practice or a game.
- All participants are encouraged to bring larger than normal water containers to limit the need for refilling.
- Water containers/bottles must not be shared.
- All participants (coaches and athletes) are not permitted to congregate around water containers or water coolers.
- Team managers and athletes are not permitted to assist with filling water bottles of coaches and other athletes.
- Mask are to be worn at all times
- Social Distancing when possible
- Restrictions may be adjusted pending Platte County Health Department.
- Student-athletes bring their own water to meets/games (think larger thermos drinking coolers that can hold 64 oz. vs. their normal 32 oz. water bottles).
- There is a possibility we will need to send fewer student-athletes to meets to limit congestion in the team.
- Coaches shall maintain a log of daily attendees (attendance)
- Athletes must wash or disinfect hands upon entering practice, leaving practice and during water breaks.
- Social distancing of at least 6 feet needs to be practiced whenever possible.
- Masks are to be worn whenever the athlete is not competing or in a drill.
- Coaches and athletes are to enter bathrooms one at a time.
- Athletes will not enter the locker room area without a coach present.
- Locker-room usage will be reserved for those students who attended in-person classes during the school day, unless specific gear is needed (I.E. Football Helmet / Pads).
- Masks will be used at all times.
- Physical distancing will be maintained whenever possible.
- Athletes will enter the locker room based on their cohort assignments and limit the time spent there to preparing for practice.
- Restrooms should be used prior to, or after, they have vacated the locker room.
- Athletes will use hand sanitizer upon both entering and leaving the locker room.
- Upon leaving the locker room, athletes will report to their designated location to meet for the start of practice, maintaining physical distance when possible.
- Team-shared equipment should be avoided, if possible. If equipment must be shared, clean and disinfect between cohort use.
- No unnecessary individuals should be present in the facility (manager, non-participating athletes, etc…)
- Social distancing of at least 6 feet MUST begin upon arrival in the gym
- Please use hand sanitizer (we provide) each time you enter the gym and maintain social distancing of at least 6 feet on the way into the gym and inside the gym.
- Athletes are required to sanitize their hands when leaving the gym
- Athletes will need to leave as soon as practice is over. Please do not congregate in the hallway or outfront afterwards.
- All student-athletes coming from a virtual day will come to practice already dressed and wearing masks no earlier than 10 minutes before practice starts..
- Student-athletes will meet on the track and stay 6 feet apart as much as possible.
- All student-athletes who attend school that day will enter the locker room with a mask on, in accordance with the coaches locker room usage plan. The mask will stay on in the locker room. They will need to change and go to the bathroom as quickly as they can and walk out to the track. The reason for this is that other teams will be waiting on us to get into the locker room.
- Student-athletes will use the provided hand sanitizer if they need to enter the building for any reason (bathroom, refill water, etc.). Student-athletes will ALWAYS wear a mask in the building.
- Student-athletes will be assigned running groups and can only take their masks off when they are running. Groups will be of 5-6 student-athletes of similar paces.
- Student-athletes will be socially distanced as much as possible while they are running.
- When practice is over, student-athletes will be able to go into the locker room to get their stuff, but we will encourage them to refrain from doing any activities outside of collecting their belongings.
- Student-athletes will not be allowed to hang out on campus in groups. Once practice is over, they need to leave campus.
